Tips for the perfect brow ...

It’s no secret that eyebrows are back in the beauty spotlight. Many of you are regulars of our shape and tint treatment, but if you prefer to do your brows at home, here's some tips for full brows without a drawn-on, fake appearance.

Firstly, shape the brows:

Locate your starting point by flipping your tweezers upside down and placing it vertically alongside the outer edge of the bottom of your nose.

Your brow should start at the end of your tweezers, about 2.5cm above the inner corner of your eye. Pluck any hairs before the starting point, making sure that the space above the bridge of your nose is centered between them.

Mark the end point by moving the tweezers so the closed end reaches the outer corner of your eye. Pluck hairs beyond the line.

Determine your brow thickness by starting just below the fullest part of your brow. Use an eye pencil to draw a line along the bottom edge of your brow, above any stray hairs.

Follow the natural shape of your brow’s top line. Pluck the strays below the line.

Now for shape, look straight into a mirror. The arch of the brow should peak above the outer rim of your iris and lie right on your brow bone.

Mark the point with your eye pencil, then remove a row of hairs along the bottom, from your inner brow point to the peak point. After the peak, shape the tail to taper off.

The next step is to define the brows. Adding colour emphasises the brow and can make sparse eyebrows look thicker.

There are some great brow products on the market but I love Cailyn's eyebrow gel. It does the job of a pencil, powder and wax all in one waterproof and smudge proof formula that lasts 24 hours. And it has a handy built in brush - fabulous!

I can help you choose the shade closest to your eyebrow colour. Then,

  • Brush the eyebrows in the direction of the hair growth with a brow brush to remove excess face powder and eye shadow.
  • Draw a line from the inner corner of the eye to define the arch.
  • Use short wispy strokes to fill in any sparse areas. Fill bald patches with a denser application. Heighten the arch by concentrating on the top.
  • Fill in and elongate tail end of brow.
  • Use the brush to blend the colour and brush the hair into shape.

The gel formula helps to set the hairs into place, otherwise waxes are available to do this job. Come and ask us which product will suit you best,

Thanks Cat, that is a good point. We offer an eyebrow shape, tint and eyelash tint separately or in combinations for better value. The eye duo is the eyebrow shape and tint and the eye trio is all three services. There’s more details at https://ahuriribeautytherapy.co.nz/collections/treatments/products/eye-treatments

    That was fun and informative.
Would also be good to explain what treatments you offer how long they take and what they involve. Also suggest that you moisturise the brow area before colouring brow area to prevent skin stain around brows.
I trio but change what I want this suits me best.

    Cheers
    Cat
